Overview
The PT62HP (DN40–50) is the large-bore band of the high-pressure H-pattern float and thermostatic steam trap, in cast steel construction with stainless steel internals and an internal thermostatic air vent. Designed for high-capacity condensate drainage from low and medium pressure steam heating and process equipment, it gives a modulating discharge at steam temperature with excellent air venting. Available with steam lock release (SLR) options and in Non-IBR or IBR approved form, it is rated to 425°C with a 32 kg/cm²(g) maximum operating pressure and a heavier body shell design rating than the DN15–25 band. Supplied, sized and serviced for steam systems across Nepal.
Features & Benefits
- The DN40-50 band delivers roughly 4 to 8 times the discharge capacity of the DN15-25 band at the same differential pressure, which is why it exists as a separate product: large process loads (big heat exchangers, evaporators) need this capacity and would overwhelm the smaller body.
- A higher body shell design rating (52 @ RT vs 42 @ RT on the small band) and a 425°C temperature ceiling reflect the heavier casting needed to safely contain the larger internal volume at pressure, so this is not simply the small trap scaled up.
- Cast steel construction with welded-on ASTM A105 forged flanges gives a proper high-pressure integral flange joint suited to large-bore steam mains, where the mechanical loads on a threaded connection would be unacceptable.
- The valve seat here is upgraded to AISI 420 / ASTM A743 Gr. CA40 versus AISI 410/420 on the small band, giving better wear resistance appropriate to the higher flow velocities through the larger orifice.
- IBR-approved option makes the large trap legally usable on boiler-connected high-capacity steam headers, not just technically suitable.
- Three differential-pressure variants let the large trap be matched to the working differential, which matters more at this capacity because an oversized orifice at low differential can waste significant steam if the trap fails to seal.
- The internal thermostatic air vent is especially valuable at this size because large equipment holds a large air volume at start-up, and clearing it quickly gets the process up to temperature faster.
